Case study

In 2006-7, five members of the occupational health team at Mars UK attended the Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Skills for Occupational Health Professionals. The editorial team at Occupational Health [at Work] went to visit them to see how they had implemented their skills in practice. They found that Mars UK was using CBT to help people to remain at work when they develop a health condition, as well as promote a return to work from long-term sickness absence. The skills gained had contributed to Mars UK’s successful and proactive approach to sickness absence management

The OH manager at Mars UK, described CBT as ‘an absolutely invaluable skill’ for the work done at Mars UK’s Melton Mowbray site, commenting ‘Now I don’t know how I managed without CBT’.
