Carpal tunnel syndrome

Being overweight (odds ratio (OR) = 1.47; confidence interval (CI) 1.37–1.57) or obese (OR = 2.02; CI 1.92–2.13) are significant risk factors for developing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) according to this meta-analysis of 58 studies. The risk of developing CTS does not differ significantly between men and women (based on 23 studies). The effect of weight reduction on CTS is not explored.
