More than half (57%) of medical residents (the US term for house officer) reported working while sick at least once in the previous year, and one-third (31%) did so more than once. Residents are significantly more likely to report presenteeism in their second training year (62%) than in their first year (52%). And just over half (53%) of residents have inadequate time to see a physician regarding their own health.
