OH law expert Professor Diana Kloss discusses the legal and ethical issues of mandating employees (and others) to accept a COVID-19 vaccination.

At the time of writing (January 2022), one of the most hotly debated issues in the UK is whether the general population should be compelled to be double vaccinated (and given a booster) against COVID-19. The first COVID-19 vaccine was approved by the Medicine and Health Products Regulatory Agency in December 2020 and since then a massive public health campaign has succeeded in giving at least one dose to nearly 52 million people, ie 90% of the UK population aged 12 and over1.
