How can OH practitioners confirm fitness to drive following a driving incident?

This case review highlights the perils of overreliance on employee self-reports and how even objective information, such as an acknowledgement of a DVLA notification, needs to be closely scrutinised. Occupational physician Vivake Roddah explains.
The case concerns a vocational driver who was seen by occupational health (OH) for a management referral following a recent at-fault driving incident. The individual worked as a delivery driver, for which group 1 driving standards applied. The driver’s employer had suspended driving duties following the driving incident, pending OH assessment, given its concerns about the employee’s fitness to drive.
