From 5th November, the clinically extremely vulnerable are advised not to go into workplace.
New guidance has been issued for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, who up to 1st August were advised to shield. The guidance is at www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19/guidance-on-shielding-and-protecting-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19.
As regards work, it says that from 5th November this group is ‘strongly advised to work from home. If you cannot work from home, you should not attend work for this period of restrictions.’
The guidance mentions possible social security benefits, or the person may be eligible to put on furlough, under the new extended scheme with the government paying up to 80% of wages.
Before 5th November the guidance was that people who up to 1st August were shielding ‘can go to work as long as the workplace is Covid-secure, but should carry on working from home wherever possible’.
