Did you see it coming? I’m talking of course about the final twist in the BBC’s drama series Bodyguard. But I don’t mean the identity of the ‘inside man’ in the police specialist operations unit, or indeed that an apparent victim turned out to have masterminded the terror plot. I refer to the penultimate scene when Sergeant David Budd knocks on door ‘M19 Occupational Health’ in the fictional New Scotland Yard, thereby exposing 17.1 million people to the profession – the highest audience for a television drama since current records began in 20021.
