Providing support at work

Summary:

The government has published results from its consultation on what can be done in the workplace to support the victims/survivors of domestic abuse. John Ballard considers its findings as well as the scale of the problem in the UK. He also summarises current and forthcoming legislation and examines research evidence on workplace interventions.

A government review on how employers can provide support for the victims/survivors of domestic abuse falls short of recommending changes to the law to guarantee rights to flexible working and paid leave for those affected by it. Almost 80% of respondents to the review had called for legislative change.
