The ILO has declared that a safe and healthy working environment is a ‘fundamental right at work’. The high prevalence of work-related ill health in the UK suggests we should take more notice.

A safe and healthy working environment is a ‘fundamental right at work’, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has declared at its most recent Session¹. The ILO has added this principle to its 1998 Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work – supplementing the original four rights covering collective bargaining, forced labour, child labour and discrimination in employment². So, why should we care?
