Bladder cancer meta-analysis

A meta-analysis by the International Agency for Research on Cancer provides further evidence for a causal link between bladder cancer and occupation as a painter. Forty-one papers were included, 37 reporting a relative risk of bladder cancer greater than 1.0. The summary relative risk was 1.25 (CI 1.16–1.34) – or 25% increased risk – supporting the IARC’s classification of occupational exposure as a painter as ‘carcinogenic to humans (group-1)’.
