Ionising radiation and risk of leukaemia – meta-analysis

An estimated 11 million workers are exposed occupationally to ionising radiation every year; however, the health effects of low doses encountered in, for example, medical diagnostics settings has been unclear. A meta-analysis based on 23 studies established an estimated excess relative risk of 0.19, at a whole-body absorbed dose of 100 mGy (95% confidence interval 0.07–0.32). The estimate includes an adjustment for publication bias.
