- UK ceased to be a member of the EU on 31st January 2020…
- but under the Withdrawal Agreement the UK continues to be bound by almost all EU law during the ‘implementation period’, lasting until the end of 2020 unless extended.
- It remains to be seen what may be negotiated with the EU as to the position after the end of the implementation period, including on data protection. The Information Commissioner’s Office has issued some updated guidance on GDPR.
